Photo Inspired Projects - Using Constraints to Promote Creative Solutions
Capturing indelible experiences with photographs has often left me dissatisfied, so I started creating mix media and textile recreations inspired by photographs of meaningful experiences in nature. I manipulate the image digitally in Photoshop, apply filters, and experiment with colors, going through several iterations until the essence of the moment is captured. That image is then printed using a wide format printer (usually on canvas) and finished with acrylic or made into a pattern which is sewn. Below are sample projects inspired by experiences in nature. Each project was constrained by an initial (and imperfect) photograph. For me these projects represent how imperfections and constraints can transform into creative and vibrant solutions.
